POOKy HORSE OF THE YEAR HIGHPOINT AWARDS PROGRAM RULES
Eligibility: Horses must be registered with the Pinto Horse Association of America –PtHA (unless showing in non-registered categories). Owners/riders must be members in good standing of POOKy. Lease horses may participate under the following conditions:
1) Written verification of lease from owner of horse must accompany nomination. 2) Lessee must be a member is good standing of POOKy.
Nomination: Nomination fees will be $10.00 per horse/Per category per year. Nomination fee must accompany the completed High Point nomination Form. A copy of PtHA papers for the horse and proof of owners/lessee’s POOKy membership must accompany all nominations. Eligible nominations must be paid before show or event for points to count.
Divisions:
1) Pinto Horse- Adult Rider- Show & Competition
2) Pinto Horse- Youth Rider- Show & Competition
3) Yearling Pinto
4) Weanling Pinto
5) Pinto Halter- Any age, type, or sex
6) Pinto Horse-Promotional/Pleasure- i.e. trail rides, parades, clinics (50pts)
7) Non-Pinto – Show & Competition
8) Non-Pinto- Promotional/Pleasure- i.e. trail rides, parades, clinics (50 pts)
Note- there maybe multiple riders for each horse as long as they are all members in good standings
Point Requirements:
1) Non-doubled point can be earned at horse shows held in any State, however, points earned at Kentucky PtHA or POOKy approved shows will count double points. Points can be earned at non-competitive events held anywhere (Division 6 &8) 50 points. No Double points to count.
2) Points may be accumulated beginning March 1st and ending Jan.1st. All points must be submitted within 5 days of the ending date to count for high point awards.
3) Points must be submitted to the High Point Chairperson on the appropriate forms within 30 days of the event. Use only the forms provided to send points. Make copies and keep them with you. A copy of the showbill must accompany point forms for each show for which points are claimed. No Show Bill, No Points. Exception would be for parades or other promotional activities in which no show bill is printed.
4) There will be no minimum number of entries per class,, but if only one horse is showing the point value for that class will be 5 points. One point for participation but no placing. When 18 or more horses show double the points apply.
5) If a nominated horse is sold during the award year and the new owner is a member in good standing of POOKy, the points will follow the horse. Otherwise points will stop at date of the sale.
6) One owner may enter more than one horse by submitting the appropriate forms and fees for each horse entered. Points will be tallied separately for each horse entered.
7) For horse show, both halter and performance classes may be counted for points. Only Kentucky PtHA and POOKy approved shows will count double using the following point system: First- 10pts, Second-9pts, Third-8pts, Fourth- 7pts, Fifth-6 pts, Sixth- 5 pts, Seventh- 4 pts, Eighth-3pts, Ninth-2pts, Tenth- 1pt. Participation but no placing- 1pt. First place with one horse showing- 5pts.
8) No point will be counted for a horse which is owned, trained, boarded, or used for riding instruction by the judge of a class in which the horse is placed.
